Can I see Gozo in a day?

While it’s possible to see some of the main attractions in Gozo in a day, it’s important to note that the island has a rich history, diverse landscapes, and numerous points of interest. Spending just a day may mean that you’ll have to prioritize specific sites and won’t be able to explore everything in detail.

Here’s a suggested itinerary for a day trip to Gozo:

1. **Morning: Visit Victoria (Rabat):**
– Explore the Citadel (Cittadella) and its various attractions, such as the Gozo Cathedral, Old Prison, and Folklore Museum.
– Stroll through Independence Square (Pjazza Indipendenza) and the surrounding streets.

2. **Late Morning to Early Afternoon: Go to Xaghra:**
– Visit the Ggantija Temples, which are UNESCO World Heritage sites and among the world’s oldest megalithic temples.
– Explore the nearby Ta’ Kola Windmill and the quaint village of Xaghra.

3. **Lunch:**
– Have lunch in one of the local restaurants or cafes, perhaps in Victoria or Xaghra.

4. **Afternoon: Head to Marsalforn or Dwejra:**
– Visit Marsalforn, a fishing village with a seaside promenade.
– Alternatively, visit Dwejra and see the Inland Sea, the Azure Window (if it has not collapsed, as it did in 2017), and the Fungus Rock.

5. **Late Afternoon: Relax or Explore More:**
– Spend some time relaxing at a beach or exploring additional areas based on your interests, such as Ramla Bay or the village of Gharb.

6. **Evening: Return to Victoria for Sunset:**
– Head back to Victoria for the evening.
– If time allows, catch the sunset from the Citadel or another vantage point.

Remember that transportation, especially on a small island like Gozo, might take some time. It’s advisable to plan your itinerary carefully and consider the opening hours of attractions. While a day trip will provide a glimpse of Gozo’s beauty, if you have the opportunity, spending more time on the island will allow for a more leisurely exploration of its many attractions.

Which is the closest beach to the hotel?

The closest beach is Xlendi but you can also get the bus to Marsalforn Bay, Ramla Bay or Dwejra.
